Santa Barbara Earthquake of June 29, 1925 First National Bank Oldest
national bank in Southern California, founded in 1871. The building above was
erected in 1913. In the earthquake, capitals of the heavy columns and the
pediment were precipitated into the street. The interior was undamaged and the
vaults unharmed, but the directors decided to rebuild in steel and reinforced
concrete. |
