The Panama-Pacific International Exposition

The Strauss Aeroscope at the Zone

Easily the most successful and exciting ride at the PPIE was the Aeroscope, called "The most wonderful moving observatory in the world." It took 118 passengers 330 feet above the Exposition. It weighed 700 tons and stood 265 above the ground.
Its builder, Joseph B. Strauss, went on to design the Golden Gate Bridge.|
