The City Hall and Public Library on April 18, 1906

All of these prospects disappeared with the calamity which befell the city on
the morning of the 18th of April.
By the destruction of the City Hall the Main Library was totally
destroyed, as were also Branch No. 3, situated in the North Beach quarter, and
the Phelan Branch No. 5 at the corner of Fourth and Clara and also two of the
deposit stations.
