A final note
The
Mayor met with his staff after the Earthquake Party and everyone said how great
it was.
(Alioto and I would remember it with great affection when we met years later.)
The same staff members who doubted the event would be a success now said, "We've got to do this again next year"... everyone chimed in, yes!
I said,
"Mr. Mayor, we can never do this again."
He replied, "No, we will never do it again."
The
Mayor knew what I meant.
Mayor Alioto was unique in the long history of San Francisco mayors, It was
my great pleasure to have known and worked for him.
