Golden Gate Park Bandstand
This was a wonderful place to be on a Sunday afternoon. The Park had its own band, and played everything from classical to marches. Notice how wonderful the ladies are dressed.Even as late as the 1970s, San Francisco had TWO bands. The Golden Gate Park Band and the Municipal Band. The Mayor's Office would use them for events in front of City Hall.
I remember the last director of the GG Park Band was Ralph Murray.
The first to be shut down was the Municipal Band. I don't know if there is still a Golden Gate Park Band. I hope there is.*
