3. NW corner Kearny and Geary.

The large sign on the roof is for a dentist, Dr. Lawrence Libbey. Note the tooth hanging from the window on the second floor. This tooth must have been seen by author Frank Norris in his wanderings around San Francisco. He used it in his novel, McTeague, published in 1899.

McTeague dreamed of having a gold tooth hanging from his "dental parlor" window. His wife, Trina, bought one for him. It contributed to his downfall.
