After a few weeks at the Atwater Hotel my class
moved to the St. Catherine Hotel, beyond the Casino. It was much bigger than the
Atwater and had an outdoor swimming pool, a gym and a beach.
There were classes for men who wanted to
work as deck hands or as engineers or cooks.
None of these jobs interested
me. I wanted to be a radio operator.
